    Poems for year 7 & 8

So I have sort of graduated to running a weekly 'literature' class for years 7 & 8. Main aim of the game is to get kids engaged with reading, and reflecting and vocalising opinions and takes on the text.
But in additin to this they have a whole year poetry project where I am getting them to choose any 10 poems that appeals to the and they will have to memorise them and be able to discuss them, reflect on them and rip them apart.
I am just thinking thouggh should I provide a recommended list of poems or should I let them run free and choose anything they like??

Tartary and Silver by Walter de la Mare spring to mind - wonderful, colourful, short, and the intense use of rhyme and alliteration make them very memorable.
