"Hotel on the corner of Bitter and Sweets"
Hi friends,
I have just finished to read a book by the Chinese-American author Jamie Lee: "Hotel on the corner of Bitter and Sweets".
I found it quite interesting, since it enlightens a period in the American history totally unknown to me. Surely, the plot sometimes seems to be a little naive and not very original, in particular in its ending. Nevertheless I liked it, since it makes me both think and enjoy.
The writing is elegant and accurate and able to remind a lost atmosphere: that of Seattle in the wartime and its music, the jazz. It is the jazz that permeates the whole novel, conveying its rhythm and its longing.
I think it 's a novel worth reading.
