Yeah, honestly Frankenweenie, Ed Wood, Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, and Edward Scissorhands are the only Burton movies I've enjoyed. And Nightmare Before Christmas, of course, which is a half-Burton movie. Big Fish was a huge disappointment to me, although Matthew McGrory (who played the giant) I found thoroughly wonderful. I wish the movie had been more of a vehicle for him, because he's just the sort of person you want to get to know better -- and he seemed like the only actor in the movie who "got" how to act in a Tim Burton movie.
Burton definitely delivers flops pretty reliably, but I'm always holding out for the next Edward, because he's done it before, so you know he has it in him. When he's good he's soooo good -- and Johnny Depp and he just seem born to work together. That's why I'm still holding out hope for Willy Wonka.
