    Haizi

This is not originally an english poem. I translated it. The writter is called" haizi

    <the poem>

    Sister,
Tonight. I'll stay in Dehaling. Night is covered by a bright veil.
    Sister,
Tonight, this desert is all I own.

With my empty hands. Feet sticked to the edge of the campo.
Too sad to hold a tear
    Sister,
Tonight, I'm in Dehaling. An abandoned town in the rainstorm.

This is the only and the last passion
This is the only and the last home

I return the stone to the soil
    Let the winners win
Only a grass belongs to me
    Everything is growing
Tonight, the desert is all I own. Emptiness alone.

    Sister,
Tonight, I forget about the entire world and think of only you
    Nothing but nothingness

so glad to see haizi's poem here..

and, i'd like to post some information about him, but i'm poor in English..

Haizi(pen name. chinese meaning is son of the sea.. )was a chinese poet and born in a small village called Jiou Valley (An'hui Province) in 1964. in 1979, he entered Beijing University, the major was law. After he graduated from the school in 1983, he became a teacher in Chinese Financial and Law Unversity. six years later he died in the Shan Hai Gateway (just the starting point of the Great Wall). one thing (should be mentioned or maybe shouldn't) about his death is that in Match,1989 he lay on the rail to let the train end his life.

Haizi has paid lots of energy in epic though his short poems are even more effective in China. (Someone said that his death was due to his being too tired.)

Happen to see this post. This translation is great, but there's some little mistakes.

1 Title missing in this version. It should be 'Diary'
2 Dehaling should be Delingha( 德令哈,Dé lìng hā )
    3 2 lines missing

Haizi is my favorite poet,I read many of his works, certainly they are Chinese original versions.Though my English is not so well,I'd like to try to arrange this translation above.

    Diary 日记

    by Haizi

Sister, tonight I'll stay in Delingha, with the night covering

Sister, the Gobi is all I own

Empty handed on the edge of grassland

Too sad to hold a droplet of tear

    Sister,tonight I'm in Delingha

Such a desolate town in the rain

    Besides those passersby and inhabitants

今夜
    Delingha...tonight

This is the only and the last lyric

This is the only and the last plain.

I return the stone to the rock.

    Let the winners win

    Tonight emblement belongs to herself

    Everything is growing

Tonight the Gobi is all I own, bare and empty

Sister, tonight I don't care the entire world,I just miss you
