My bit of recommendation: Do not con-fuse general semantics with semiology. The latter is an overcome structuralist theory. Read carefully Alfred Korsybski's Science and Sanity to grasp the former. There is, of course, structure in the English language, but it is not of great consequence. There is structure in any language. What does that mean?
