I am reading this. I am so into Wagner's operas that I decided to read this book as it is apparently where Wagner found much source material for the plots of his operas.

I really dig medieval mythology and history and lore and everything about that era.

If anyone wishes to discuss the Nibelungenlied I welcome you to this thread.

I read that several years ago and enjoyed it. There's an interesting point-of-view switch later on, if you haven't already gotten to it.

Check out the silent film duology by Fritz Lang also, if you can. It's very faithful (and thus, long) and has an excellent dragon to boot.

Cool, thanks for the tips. I've only just started it. I love these medieval tales. They have that power and simplicity that mythologizing seems so often to present and project.

I love Wagner. Probably my favorite composer--I have been planning on reading the librettos of the Ring Cycle--I have them saved to my desktop, waiting.

Are you reading an online version of The Nibelungenlied?

I've been planning on reading Nibelungenlied for ages, just never got the time. Are there any good English translations? Some of these old poetic epics just don't translate well.
