I didn't realize that Casey Jones was a real person, Sancho. That's good to know.

Esther offers "fake" for this week's Laughing Along With A Limerick: https://estherchilton.co.uk/2026/07/...-limerick-290/

    It was fakity, fakity fake,
but we bought it since it came with cake.
    And the cake tasted good
like a real, good cake should,
but the message was fakity fake.

Lol... anything's good with cake, as long as it's not a fake cake... Enjoyed

    Back later...

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccL1VuUTbHM

An anonymous man named Glock N. Spiel

Glock had a watch with a curious dial
    likening two ouroboros most especial
    some said it was fake
'cause who ever heard of a Rolex with a snake
but Glock would just chuckle and smile

Haha, I like cake. Who doesn't like cake? Also I own a bona fide Timex. I know. I know. Flaunt it if you got it. Anyway:

There was a young gal named Heidi
Who went to club last Friday
    But there at the door
    She silently swore
When she couldn't find her fake ID

Welcome back from the land of the banned, Y/N. I went ahead and looked up Esther's challenge from last week, which was "weed", and came up with this one:

There once was a yard-work slacker
    Beset by a noxious attacker
    Gazed out on his lawn
    Which mostly was gone
‘Cos the slacker was a lacker of a Weed Whacker
    Uhhhh...

I've had many a fine Timex watch in my time

Lol, I haven't exercised my weed whackers yet... I like the natural look this year; some weeds are noxious but the pollinators love them

    Enjoyed

Great one about Heidi and her fake ID, Sancho. That was a very expensive watch, Tailor. If Glock could afford that watch I can see why he's smiling.

Esther offers "wreck" for this week's Laughing Along With A Limerick: https://estherchilton.co.uk/2026/07/...-limerick-291/

    A Wreck of a Limerick

Though they said, "It's a wreck," I am glad
it was not so remarkably bad.
    It was not even worse
than a line of this verse
and for that I am gratefully glad.

    Haha. Good one, Y/N, a self-deprecating limerick.

    Meanwhile on Gitche Gumee:

There once was a captain named Harold
Who felt that his ship was imperiled
    He’d always remember
    The gales of November
And the wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald

On a personal note, my grandfather was named Harold and was the captain of an ore freighter on the lakes, but he’d retired by the time of the sinking of the Edmond Fitzgerald. I’ve often wondered if he knew those guys.
    Uhhhh...

Enjoyed both poems - hysterical and historical

    Back later with my offering...

    ... later:

    365 reasons

Lick Observatory is not as high as the Keck
by a factor of three or so as one would trek
but Mount Hamilton's road I have travailed
driving through rain and snow as I paled
the experience making me a nervous wreck
