    For Austin

    This is a very simple poem, and probably nowhere near as good as the others posted on this site, but it involves very complex emotions. I wanted to share with everyone how deeply I felt about the birth of a "special" child, and this was a close as I could come to expressing these feelings. I hope you like it.

    For Austin

    You are my sunshine
    My one and only
    You bring me comfort
    When I am lonely

    You are my angel
    Your smile is sunlight
    You are a miracle
    Your face shines so bright

    God blessed me greatly
    I am so thankful
    To have you in my life
    You are so beautiful

    You make my heart sing
    A little gift from above
    My life was empty
    Until I felt your love

    A very sweet poem! It makes me think of that song my mom used to sing to me when I was little, "You are my sunshine."

    Oft Scyld Scefing sceaþena þreatum,/ monegum mægþum, meodosetla ofteah,/ egsode eorlas, syððan ærest wearð/ feasceaft funden; he þæs frofre gebad,/ weox under wolcnum, weorðmyndum þah,/ oðþæt him æghwylc þara ymbsittendra/ofer hronrade hyran scolde,/gomban gyldan. Þæt wæs god cyning!

    Thank you Shea, that song is actually one of Austin's favorites and a bit of an inspiration for the poem.
