Hi all - I just finished re-reading "The Pearl" by Steinbeck, and I really thought there was this sequence where they bring the pearl to this expert because there's an imperfection in the pearl, and the expert slowly shaves the pearl with a knife to remove the imperfection - meanwhile, the owners of the pearl are sweating bullets.
So this isn't from "The Pearl," does anyone know where this is from? I mentioned it to my dad, he remembers the passage exactly as I described it, but couldn't remember the title or the author.
Thanks
