At Walter’s house, Walter led him and Adrian through the back door into the kitchen and down a set of narrow wooden steps to the cellar.

"Him" is correct, but I think it would scan better if you used the him's name as well.

"Him" appears to be grammatically correct but I think the sentence still remains inappropriate, as it doesn't give a complete information.
I guess you should better write: At his house, Walter led "name of the character" and Adrian through the back door into the kitchen and down a set of narrow wooden steps to the cellar. I just work as a copywriter (if my works are interesting, then you can see them on writingpeak) so I have some experience in writing. It will sound better as for me.
