Question What is keeping kids from accusing other people of thought-crime to get rid of them?

In the book it mentions that at a certain age children join the spies and are taught to report suspicious people. What keeps the children from accusing people just because they don't like them? Does the Party search for evidence that the accused has really committed a thought-crime or do they just vaporize them without evidence?

It is the threat they pose that is the real control.

You don't know who they are. Where they are. When they may show up.

This fear ends up controlling them.

It is possible from the children being trained from a young age this is not something that would cross their mind they could do. Possibly too someone keeps the kids in line to make sure something like this does not happen. Like one child might check another to see this wont happen. But from how easy to manipulate kids are it would most likely be they would not consider doing something like that

Children only hate enemies of Big Brother and the Party because of the propaganda. They don't hate anyone they believe to be loyal to the Party because all their hate is directed at those who oppose Big Brother. The children would only denounce any who gave an indication of being a thought criminal, even on the smallest evidence, because of this propaganda that has been directed at them specifically.

In the book, the Party and Big Brother limit everything so much that people do not have the capability to have emotion of their own. Therefore, the brainwashed children only accuse people who have provided evidence of committing a thought-crime, and have them vaporized.

The people who support Big Brother and the party don’t really have human emotions. They may not know what it is to like or dislike someone. I think the children may only know what they are told. The party most likely tells and teaches them what to look out for so that’s all the children look for. They most likely cannot turn someone in that they don’t like because the don’t like or dislike anyone.
