    Not Thinking Too Much

I walked my dog this morning
and as we stepped into the newness
of the day, a large Boxer ran over
    and bit him,
    seemingly for no good reason.

After that happened, we dawdled to
the lake and I threw his tennis ball, for a
game of fetch- but before he could retrieve it
(running, as fast as he can) ,
some kid took his ball and
    tossed it in the lake.

On our way home, I thought a run would
    divert him from these troubles,
but as we began our dash, he got tangled
in his leash and tripped - paws over head,
    somersaulting like a bagel.

It's evening now and he is bringing me
his leash, drunk with happiness and
    eager for a walk.

    He's forgotten this morning.

I've not yet put it all out of my mind.

Awwwww! This is just SO typical of our canine buddies, eh?
You have captured the spirit of the dog in these few words, thank you!
