    Ted

Ted was bored. Was he really such a bad poet? Jerry said he could prove it. Jerry was perhaps a mean person. They met when they were partnered to play a game somewhere. Jerry won the game. He was jolly fit.
'I thought friends helped their friends, Jerry. I'd really like to be seen as a fine poet. It's important to me. Only nasty people do nasty things. Perhaps the beer is corrupting you, Jerry. Alcohol shouldn't be allowed.'
Jerry was fifty. He was fat and ugly and strange. Ted's volume was thrown to the flames. Jerry's official release was such a damnation. It seemed thirty years of craft stood for nothing.
'I'll tell you something,' said Jerry. 'You're a sturdy thing.'
Ted moved to America. Wales was behind him. He got a job serving. Irony of ironies given beer was behind Jerry's terrible words.
A Hollywood star gave Ted a list of connections. The actor admired Ted's work.
Ted became a famous and respected poet.
