How do you feel/what do you think about the character portrayal of '10 things I hate about you' compared to the original play 'Taming of the shrew'? What contemporary beliefs/trends/movements have influenced it?

Can anyone please help me with this? It is for a college research paper.

I haven't seen the modern play, but another way to approach it is to ask how the character portrayal in "Taming of the Shrew" is like that in modern rom-coms. This way you will be able to distinguish "10 things I hate about you" from the rest at them at the same time.
