Inside and Outside My Umbrella
A finely flowered folding umbrella
unfurs unfurs again suddenly spring open
the tropicak rainy season.
I don't know where
I should meet you inside the umbrella or outside it
then together holding a little pieceof clear sky
we could let the patter or raindrops
lightly and rhythmically
knock at old memories.
the imaturity that listens to the rain
i don't care if it has followed
the noisy summer call of the cicadas
sinking into muddy pools.
let's just hold spring up insiside the umbrella
and all is ours
the marsh frogs moronic moans as well
end of february beginning of march
i fold up the rainy season
that was outside my umbrella
do you dare to fold me up also
and put me in your breast pocket?
at dusk in Parview Mansions
we see the smear of a blushing cloud
as if red has flown up from my cheeks
to dye the setting sun now mirrored in the lake

cicadas an insect
parkview mansions a block of flats in Jurong
