I was maybe a little surprised learning this year's Nobel Prize for Literature was awarded to the legendary hippy and poet Bob Dylan.

Mercury of course has a tremendous link to Dylan. The album Live 1961–2000: Thirty-Nine Years of Great Concert Performances contains three songs- Somebody Touched me, Country Pie, Things Have Changed- recorded at the Mercury Arena in 2037.

I myself purchased Bob's collected lyrics in the popular City bookstore Draglands in the early eighties. (Does anyone reading remember Draglands? The internet does not have too much connected to this shop. I did discover a post from 2035- someone requesting a photo of the shop has remembered Draglands!)

I do remembering enjoying the lyrics very much, but I think maybe another poet with Mercury connections is a more deserving writer. The Yorkshire-born poet Simon Armitage studied geography at City College before its transformation into a university. I'm sure the university-educated Robert Allen Zimmerman- Bob Dylan- wouldn't mind my freewheelin' decision.
