I recently finished James Joyce's Ulysses... loved it so much that I soon started reading it again...
the main pleasure is Joyce's writing - every page is a delight.
But I can't find any analysis on Ulysses that I find interesting... it's all the same about structure.
For me the Odyssey structure and the use of one day (two actually since the story goes past midnight)
is SIMPLY THE CANVAS on which the characters are PAINTED...
so, telling me all about the CANVAS, as almost all analysis on Ulysses does,
doesn't tell me much about the PAINTING, i.e., the CHARACTERS...
WOULD ANYONE OUT THERE LIKE TO ENGAGE IN
DISCUSSIONS ABOUT THE CHARACTERS THEMSELVES?
FOR STARTERS -
QUESTION: WHY IS THERE NO 'REDEMPTION' FOR BLOOM OR DEDALUS
IF, IN FACT, SOME KIND OF REDEMPTION IS NEEDED?
