Gender roles are reversered in 1984 when she sets up where they meet and when they go out. This plays a role in society today because many man and women roles are reversed like men do laundry, some men cook dinner and clean the house, so yes Orwell was correct.
Orwell demonstrates that roles are reversed by giving Julia the power to decide where to get together. Orwell was right in prophasizing this because today, we see women working and some men staying at home.
