Freedom; "the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint". In the novel 1984, freedom is slavery. Freedom comes with responsibility, and even sacrifice. It all comes back to the fact that there is no longer privacy in this world, we are always being watched. As we are watched, we are judged. If our actions, thoughts, or words don't correspond with the rules we are meant to abide by, we are immediately scrutinized. Freedom does exist, but there will always be a line drawn between what is right and wrong. Through past to present, there has always been a twist put on freedom. "Land of the free", and yet the laws of this country seem to still prohibit even the most peaceful protest. Without these guidelines in our lives, we'd be sure to fall apart. Although, if there was even less privacy to come (less freedom), would we fall apart from the abstractness of never being able to be alone?
