In the novel 1984, Winston goes on to talk about how much he hates women. He even states that the though of killing a woman has crossed his mind, especially considering she could be dangerous. I'm asking if this fear and hatred towards women is a prediction of Orwell's. Through time, women have been considered a threat in some way. During today's society, many women have been portrayed as objects, not as humans. Women have been said to only be good for one thing, their bodies. Winston is clear that he would have attempted to hurt Julia, but he was afraid she was stronger than him. Looking at society, you are able to tell that a strong woman is not always empowered by men, and that is due to the fear that comes along with weakness. Although not focused entirely on the part women play in society, was Orwell predicting the growing misogynist attitude towards women?
