The maple syrup doesn't sound right to me either.

Clopin, I'll just take your word for it.
I have this distaste about meat/fish and a sweet addition....
Further, may I ask, if this maple syrup salmon were served, what do folks serve with it?
When I make salmon, I do it as described above, and serve with steamed crisp asparagus, baked potato and a salad.

I've only just eaten it by itself. You eat it cold as well. It's not really a meal, it's just a snack people like. Is this a Canadian thing? I thought it was just normal.
So with the courage of a clown, or a cur, or a kite jerkin tight at it's tether
No, we eat it here in New England, too. You can put it on a cracker or good bread or even a bagel. As Clopin says, it's pretty good (on doctor's orders I went back to eating meat this year and haven't much regretted it). But I will speak heresy to my Canadian friends and say that, for my money, the best maple syrup comes from Vermont. Mmmmm-boy! But it on a tuna sandwich and it would still taste good!
I love having Greek yoghurt with my chips (fries) and love it but have been told it is a weird combination. Better than ketchup and all, for me.
Admittedly, I love yoghurt. Have it with pasta, too.

The onions sound edible.

Bacon and onions make the liver much more appetizing.
But skip the ketchup, please!

Ketchup reminds me of a reincarnated tomato that did something awful in its past life.

Ha! And don't get me wrong -- ketchup has its place in my world (on French fries, grilled cheese sandwiches...)...
But this past Schrove Tuesday met its worst ever ... Potato Pancakes with Maple Syrup atop??? O no, say it is not so!!! That was completely horrid to fathom... *glargh*

I'm trying imagine what pancakes made out of potatoes might taste like. I'm beginning to think maybe there is a use for ketchup.
