Post Unsuccessful Suicides - A story by Noam-Haim Shmueli

    Meet George.
George holds the record of 3064 unsuccessful suicides.
One thing you can say about George,
    Is that he is persistent.
He tried every possible way, but life gave him second chances, 3064 times.

He tried to hang himself, but the rope tore.
He tried shooting himself, but the gun wouldn't fire.
He tried overdosing, but the medics came too quickly.
He tried taking a leap of faith, and fell into the water.
he tried drowning himself, but he just couldn't.
    nothing ever worked.
He somehow managed to stay alive.

Everyone was rather excited about his gift of staying alive.
    and less worried about him.
No one ever asked him whats wrong,
    Why is he doing this.
No one tried to comfort him.
    No one cared.
He seemed like an other circus freak to them.

Then again, there is no clear answer to why is he trying to end his life.
He was married to a beautiful, loving wife.
    He had two adorable children,
he had enough money to never worry again, not a care in the world.
But still, dear George though that there is nothing in this life for him.
    He looked for an escape.

One day, George came home from work to find a letter, he was already prepared for this day to come.

    "You have nothing.
    I would never forgive you.
I would never forget what you've done.
    I've never loved you.
Don't try and look for us.
    You have nothing"

The years went by, and George finally passed at the age of 92,
It was a Sunday morning, the sun shined beautifully.
George sat in his living room.
    He was completely alone.
He went to the kitchen, opened the second drawer to his left, and pulled out a sharp and shiny knife.
He went back to the living room, sat in his sofa, turned on the TV.
    Opera was on.
He played with the knife in his hand.
    Shivering with tension.
"This is it. This is the 3065 time. My lucky number."
He held the knife against his chest and fell on it.
Four days later his neighbour found him on the sofa with a letter in his hand.

    "I have nothing.
My life is one big lie, and I'm the only one who knows.
My bank account holds 9,562,789 and 25 cents. None of it is mine.
I stole it from my best friend's business. Not before i stole his dear wife, who sure made someone feel loved. But it wasn't me.
    My children aren't biologically mine.
they don't even look remotely like me.
All i had is my dog, and he ran away.

P.S My wife, my kids, and my best friend are buried in the backyard
    I have nothing."

Ah, but there remains a mystery. Who wrote the letter?
A just conception of life is too large a thing to grasp during the short interval of passing through it.
