An example of imperialism in the world today can be seen in the Chinese Zambian relations. For about fifteen year now, China has been after resources in Zambia such as coal. It's 'relationship" with Zambia is really a one sided conversation. China takes what it wants and imposes itself on the landlocked South African country. Riots have broken out in Zambia regarding the Chinese presence and have resulted in many deaths and yet China continues to mine for coal regardless of what the Zambians want. I believe that imperialism will always be a part of the world. People and countries will want more and more power and that fact is inevitable. What I would like to see are restrictions on imperialism. We can't stop it but we can monitor it and therefor decrease the harmful effect it has on developing nations. Imperialism in my mind is a disease that can be treated but not cured.

Imperialism is a policy of extending a country’s rule over other foreign countries. It is either influencing or forcing other countries to submit to another country’s rule. America’s involvement in the Middle East and trying to control that region can be an example of imperialism. Although the U.S does not necessarily control the whole region, they have a lot of influence. The US has a strategy for dominating the Middle East and it involves the financing, arming and training of Islamist forces targeting secular regimes in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya and Syria. These regimes are considered threats to a global hegemony, so the U.S takes it upon themselves to do this. Obama has also decided to be involved in the Middle East to get ahold of vast energy reserves, and in controlling the regions to gain these resources, it can be considered an example of imperialism.

An example of imperialism in the world today is the continued settlement building and expansion of Israel into the West Bank belonging to the Palestinians. In this case, it is an actual government body or country that is colonizing land that is not theirs, thus cruelly displacing indigenous peoples from homes that they've lived in for generations. I believe that imperialism is terrible, because it stems from greed which I believe is the worst sin. It has a negative effect on society because those being oppressed under imperialism build up hate for the oppressors and it just causes problems for the world over.

An example of imperialism in the world today is America attempting to imperialize Russia regarding Ukraine. Basically, Obama has threatened Russia to not take over Ukraine or else there would be consequences, which I am assuming these consequences involve military attack. In attempt to try to 'save' Ukraine, America gains another target on their back by another country that dislikes their intervention. As America tries to act as the global policeman, the effects left on society today are not good. The people who are being oppressed always grow a hatred for those trying to imperialize them and their country, so the chances of these people backlashing are quite good. No one wants to be oppressed and when they are, it never leads to a happy, good outcome. Imperialism is unnecessary because each country should be able to decide on their own what exactly they desire to do.

The U.S is a modern day imperialistic power. The U.S. likes war we make billions of dollars off of it. The U.S. has continuously lies to the american public about the military's involvement in things/ how the story actually went to gain support of citizens (most recently with American Sniper). In 2013 the U.S. spent more than what the next 7 top spending countries did combined in military expenses...
We have the strongest and most advanced military in the world with over 400 bases located around the world and forces able to be deployed at the drop of a hat. We don't need to physically keep military forces in colonized lands to suppress its people/ control them but the threat of our ability hangs over their heads.

Imperialism is a policy of extending a country's power and influence through diplomacy or military force. Today the US is the biggest super power in the world with a military bigger than the next 15 leading countries combined. There is no question that the US does not have the gun-power to enter almost any nation and take it over completely. While the US obviously does not do this they make sure to keep other countries well informed of this truth. For example there is controversy over whether or not the US should intervene with the acts of ISIS or simply leave it be and let it play out. I think imperialism can be extremely threatening, especially when a country like the US has such a significantly stronger military than any other place on the planet. It causes people in countries that aren't exactly the US’s “friends” to constantly live in fear of the day that might come when the US decides to invade that country.

One example of modern a day imperialism in the world is China taking root in Africa. This imperialistic action has come about in recent years as China has moved into Africa to mine natural resources that they can benefit from taking. Americans are stared by this, mainly because of how profitable this plan has become for China. The definition of Imperialism is the policy of extending the rule or authority of an empire or nation over foreign countries, or of acquiring and holding colonies and dependencies. According to these recent events, China is extending it's own authority over Africa, which can pressure other countries to react in whatever way they think is the safest and/or quickest way to provide stability for themselves or others.

One example of imperialism today is how the United States are trying to gain control over the Middle East. The United States have a great advantage in winning battles due to their advanced technology and weapons. The Obama administration is currently negotiating with Russia on a possible political settlement in Syria, and with Iran on a agreement based on an agreement on its nuclear program and at least a partial lifting of economic sanctions. The Middle East requires the building of a new socialist movement that unites the working class of all the national and sectarian boundaries in a fight for the United Socialist States of the Middle East. The building of a mass socialist anti-war movement dedicated to putting an end to the source of war and militarism is the job of the workers of the United States and Europe. I believe imperialism is a terrible thing, although it is beneficial for a countries power, it is damaging another.

Imperialism is the policy of extending the rule or authority of an empire or nation over foreign countries, or of acquiring and holding colonies and dependencies. An example of imperialism in the world today, is America’s involvement in the Middle East; particularly Afghanistan, Iran and Iraq. America is providing both weapons, and military bases, in order to increase their military power in the Middle East. I do not necessarily feel that imperialism is a positive thing, but I do not feel it is negative either. I do feel that a country should generally be able to look after themselves, rather than others trying to influence and overpower the countries involved.. but if a country needs assistance to be able to survive alone, then I think the needed assistance should be given. As long as imperialism does not damage the individuals living in the country, and the country as a whole, as well as it's surrounding countries, I do not feel that it is harmful.

A model of imperialism in the world today is the imperialism of Ukraine between the U.S. and Russia. Putin desires to reestablish the soviet empire in Ukraine which the U.S. intervened declaring "consequences" will be carried out. The motivation behind Putin's decision is to expand his economic territory. Imperialism only benefits the conductor of expanding personal territories. However, without imperialism some countries would have remained undiscovered. Imperialism today negatively impacts society because in this modern era disputes about land effects both countries due to the advantage of media. In history, messages were delayed and as illustrated in Heart of Darkness the Europeans were ignorant of imperialism. Today, our society is affected by every decision the government finalizes which diverse amounts of opinion arise, splitting into groups of power driven minds and morals.

An example of imperialism in the world today would be Russia and its continued attempts to expand back to its previous size. Currently, Russia has taken parts of Ukraine through military force and continues to gain footholds in the small country to expand its influence not only in Ukraine but also worldwide as control of the nation would give it a larger amount of influence worldwide. I think that imperialism has mainly been a negative connotation in history so far and countries should be able to rule for themselves, not be ruled by another power unless they are a danger to worldwide peace. For society today, there are still remnants of imperialism in previous lands under foreign influence in culture, language, and many other aspects. Today however, most countries are in agreement in that no other country should become an imperialistic country again.

A current example of Imperialism are the actions that Russia is taking in regards to controlling Ukraine. Imperialism is in use by the Russian empire by invading and controlling everyday life in Ukraine. Furthermore, without permission, the Russians have exploited the lack of power in Ukraine and have attempted to enlarge their massive empire. By taking these actions, Russia is demonstrating imperialism and demonstrating the ruthless nature associated with it. The ruthless and unfortunate realities must be recognized by both the imperialists and the country being controlled. The fact of the matter is that when a country believes they have the ability to control another country, they believe they have supreme power and that nothing should be able to stop them. This in turn, results in a higher rate of imperialism, causing an increased amount of distress throughout the world. In order to avoid the globalization of a certain power, imperialistic ideals should be eliminated from every country's political agenda.

An example of imperialism today is America expanding its military power in the world. The U.S. spreads and expands its control over the world, and an example of this are the US military bases in many countries around the globe. Whether or not a country should take control of other countries depends on its motives. Imperialism is fine as long as you try to help the country in need, but is bad if you try to take advantages of the countries for your own benefits. The effects of imperialism can be either positive or negative, depending on the purpose.
