    Got a weird e-mail

    Admin,
I found a weird e-mail in my bulk box and the person who wrote it said that they got my name and address from a website. The only other site from this one that I know of that the info is on is my own wedding site. The person "dosen't want to be exposed", but I smell a scam. Anyway, I thought you should know, just in case it's something that you want and can stop (I'm not really familiar with the ethics of the internet yet). If this has nothing to do with your site and only mine and my husband's, please disreguard this and I'll ask him what to do. :-?

If i can say... usually people who send spam mail take random addresses from sites, and im not sure there's much to do about it... I think you can learn to accpet they arrive and delete them, or avoid putting your address on sites if you really can't stand that, or make a 'public' address to post in sites, registrations etc when you need/want to, and a private one that you only give out personally, so the junk will only arrive on the public one.

Thanks for the tip! I did talk to my husband about it, he guessed what the e-mail was when I first brought it up. I guess there's really not much I can do about it. :x People like that really make me mad! :x Their the reason that there is so much distrust for legitimate charities who really do need help! :x

Was the email from some rich person in Nigeria who needs help to move funds to the US?

I didn't send you an email, and this forum software keeps member emails private.

If you wrote a review on the main site and inserted your email they could have gotten it that way. Spammers have robots that crawl the Internet looking for addresses.

They also can get addresses by using viruses/worms. If someone who has your address in their address book gets infected they could get it that way.

They'll also sometimes just make things up. 1@aol.com, 2@aol.com, and so on down the list trying every possible address.

or you can do what I do-keep my email account in a state of perpetual deactivity. It sort of exists and it sort of doesn't. I hate email. I really do.
