Yes, 'tis the season to be merry and answer that dreadful question:

How old will you be in 2015?

    Please take the poll!

Old. And since the site says that "old" is too short a post, let me add: old enough to know better.

It's comforting to see a respectable number of old codgers in the 70-75 bracket.

Maturing in years is a beautiful process. Early youth is grossly idealised. I'm 31 in '15 and I can't wait to be 41, and wiser!
But you, cloudless girl, question of smoke, corn tassel
You were what the wind was making with illuminated leaves.
ah, I can say nothing! You were made of everything.

    That is an urban myth.

Ageing does not necessary do what it says on the tin!

    As a side note...

Is maturing overrated a little? Look at mature cheese! Hardened and smelly...

Let's hope that we will remain true to ourselves.

I answered the poll truthfully, but for some reason my category did not come up on the results display. I am in my mid-fifties in any case. I have been upfront about that since day one here, but I am not surprised in the least to see others older than me. I think the codgers here would be more open about it if the kiddies didn't act like we had some kind of disease.

And it actually is kind of fun to age. You get to laugh at all the little boys who still want to compete with you over women and money (or just 'cause that good ol' testosterone is squirtin' through their veins); not to mention the intended manipulations of young ladies who think you still care all that much about their bra size. Sorry kiddies--been there, done that, still miss it sometimes. But this is so much better.

On the other hand, aging sometimes seems like a mean practical joke. Just when you learn to appreciate beauty, you lose yours. Just when you become comfortable in your own skin, the rest of the machine falls apart. Just when you lose any residual hang ups about sex--well never mind. God has a sense of humor, yes, but He can seem a little frat boy-ish at times. (Maybe in God years He's still a kid--who knows?)

What I object to is the assumption that because I'm having fun, I must be "trying to act young." That strikes me as a kind of prejudice. Everyone tries to have fun. If your parents hadn't been trying, you wouldn't even be here. But maybe that's where the repulsion comes from: it calls to mind the unthinkable. I will conclude my comments with an exhortation toward greater maturity to LitNet's young men (wake up, Clopin). A man your age wrongly believes that the most important organ in his body is his penis. With age and wisdom comes the mature understanding that it is actually his prostate. I have to run.

Haha I like the simile. Reminds me of a now gone family elder who got bitter and bitter with advancing age in a textbook case of a cantankerous old man.
