    The Good Earth

Global warming, garbage piles high, recycling....what is the future of our Good Earth? We write about love and angst. Shine your talents upon the earth and make us think, show us how to change, make us want to change our wasteful ways. We won't choose winners for I believe that anyone who takes the time to hold up this Good Earth is a winner. Would you like to participate?d Thanks! ampoule

    Gaia

    An organism like us all
We act pretending we’re too small
    To cause her damage anyway.
Like viruses we love to play.
But there’s no doctor she can see
    Prescribing her a remedy.
She simply tells us to play nice
Or all of us will pay the price.

Ampoule, I'm so gladdened and grateful to see this post - more than I can really say. I only saw it yesterday since I haven't come to this part in ages. I've recently made a radical change when all the facts and what not caught up to me. I've realized that nothing is more important than restoring ecological balance, so I've pretty much dedicated my life to it. .

I recently came across this site - there's a great article about re-examining our approach to ecology here (worldpopulationbalance.org)

I was so glad to find the site, partly because a lot of their conclusions were ones I had come to independently. One of those things was that, to spread the message effectively, it has to be one of hope - and that has always coincided with my beliefs.. so, I decided the best thing to do is to write poetry, make it as beautiful as possible, and dedicate it all to the movement of saving our ecosystem and our future.

So naturally when I came across your thread, it was a very, very bright moment of my day :-) Thank you so much, again. . I will definitely post a poem in a day or two on here!

You also reminded me of an old saying - I looked up your user title; it led me back to this Gaelic saying,

Moi an olge agus tiocfaidh sí,
or, Praise the child, and she will flourish.

And this fantastic letter where it came from: a grandfather's last advice

I love yours a lot, as well, YesNo. . Well since it's been a coupe days (somewhere!) here are a couple I wrote. . the first is rather self-explanatory I think! hehe. I wrote that one today... short, I know it could be developed more, but short poems are nice sometimes too. The second one I wrote a few days ago; it doesn't quite feel finished, but I'm fairly pleased with it. I don't think I've posted it yet, so it may go well here. Re-reading it, I'm definitely very pleased with it, but I am also certain it's not finished. Some day

    So softly she treads
    on the padded grass,
    like some cherubim -
    Shaggy, perfect cat,
living like a secret she knows
all of nature is her limb.

This little forest, in my eye
Is like a sparkling, starlit sky
That echoes answering, let us live,
    For the vast boundless wealth we give;
And like the heavenly, starlit skies,
We have grown tall, we have grown wise-
And in our silent standing keep
The secret life, within a deep
    Entangled web of life protected
Wherein the first seeds are reflected.
This little forest, grown so deep
Is just a vision I will keep
    Like an enchanted memory
    That flows on imperceptively
But stays, while others perish -
Babe of wisdom, we so cherish.

So we while away the hours,
Using all our given powers -
To your life and health sustain -
    Until we melt away again,
And live anew as one long rain.
I think of it as an adventure
To live and save our Mother Nature.

I like the idea contained in "melt away" and doing that "again", NikolaiI. And again. And again. It does seem like an enchanting "adventure". Instead of "save" in the last line, I would use "serve", but that is likely the same thing.

    Feel the Earth,
    feel Her heart beat,
through the tips of your fingers
    and the breadth of your feet;
    Singing softly,
    without any sound
    The one song heard
    the whole world round:
Live peace, know peace, share it true:
Live life, know life, it is forever new.
When I wrote this, I quite literally heard
the gears grind to a stop, such is the power of Word.
Dearest, High Lord, all in heaven -
I cannot handle this power -
    give me a sign,
    give me a sign.
    All is Thine.

    Grind to a stop - create much resistance;
do not allow forests to disappear without it.

Stop them, the machines in their tracks.
    And don't ever look back.

    I can fly
    high away
    in the sky
    I can fly
    high away
    in the sky
    I can fly
    high away
    in the sky
    I can fly
    high away
    in the sky
    I can fly
    high away
    in the sky
    I can fly
    high away
    in the sky
    I can fly
    high away
    in the sky
    I can fly
    high away
    in the sky.

The situation is dire, but have hope!!
Have infinite peace - and perserverence.
We will make this earth beautiful for our kids.

Can I feed your cat, God?
    Yes? Thank you!
Can I take care of your animals, God?
    Yes? Thank you!!
    Can I preserve your forests,
    by abstaining from consumption, Lord?
    Dearest Heavenly Love,
gratefully I will protect the birds,
    fish of the seas,
    and all of your creation,
    by learning about your harmony,
    peace, and balance,
    and oneness with all nature.
    As you have protected me.

Nice beginning with feeding the cat and progressing to protect all creation leading up to that last line of being protected.

Thank you kindly, dear friend - I hope your day is wonderful!

As I've learned more about life, I've come to understand that the most important thing for us is to preserve species life. . and bio-diversity.

For while it is absolutely true that life always finds a way; still each species is irreplacable and as beautiful as every other, especially when you catch the glimpse that it is all one life.

Recently I came across this article, which so eloquently expresses a lot of these truths which many of us have independently come to realize as well.

A radical change is needed, and we need to halt and reverse population growth; the sooner the better (and easier). .

I was just very pleased to see these ideas concurrently understood.

I've reduced my own consumption vastly, but it still feels like a very small step.

And of course, war is among the most devastating elements - so the path is very clear! :-)

    The Earth's embrace
    is tender and soft,
    and the mind
    that sees clearly
    is kind.
    Follow your heart
    to the highest vision,
    and supreme peace
    you will find.
    To raise life to
    the highest bliss
    is nothing less
    than walking in peace
    on a country road,
    with all the birds around.
Glory to all sacred life on earth.
    Jaya!

    Love, be kind, forgive,
and then the world can live.
Put swords back in their sheathe,
and then the world can breathe.
    Seek for the heart's release
and you will know supreme peace.
Earth, we will learn to care -
    and we will clean up your air;
    To strengthen the immune system,
Imagine, there's no "us," and no "them."
In view of your love, sacred bright,
We are born into, and leave in delight.
And when your beloved ones have lost their way,
Allow strength and peace to guide the way.
When the soul wakens from tender rest,
It sings aloud, "peace is highest," peace is blessed.
And with the arc of a graceful dove,
Encourages us all, do find love.
    To set aside elaboration,
    We are one nation.
One voice has always called to me,
with one message, that I am free.
And with my life, and freedom found,
I have one message - none are bound.

There is a door, when one passes through -
Daily I pledge to honor you -
    All things are there,
    Everywhere.

    Daily, hourly, minutely renewal -
This the life's work of love's fuel -
Always turn to what heals oneself and others,
I dedicate myself to protection of all life forms.

Wherever I have fallen, pick up and carry on -
    We'll greet the dawn.

    Take Time for Yourself

    Take time for yourself
A walk in the forest or a stroll on the beach
Where peaceful sounds and crystalline airs bring
A solitude in the seeking or a communion of mind
Treat each view as a vision and discern the simple natures
Embrace your new sight and perhaps fashion into a poem
In any case take time to reflect when you've arrived home
Keeping these memories alive filed in the temple of your soul
That they might nurture you when the world once more closes in
