Only 17% religious in Sweden and Denmark! And are there any more civilized countries? Compare with countries where religion is strong - Northern Ireland, Iraq, Israel, Sri Lanka,...
    Peace be on you.
.....and those simpler creatures came from......from morer simplerer.....so on
so from where the first the most simplest unit came from? By itself? or has to by someone?
You may think as you like, but I am sure someone placed it there...and religion tells us Who did, especially when that someone speaks.

If people do not follow a religion it means whether it is not solving problems, not giving enough guidance or they do not want to practice because of selfish reasons.....These angles need to be considered.

There are some other thoughts about Scandinavians current situation:

That's an exercise in British irony.

Read it carefully and you'll see the journalist is, on balance, very positive about these countries. Take Denmark, he points out it comes top in happiness surveys and people have the shortest working hours. OK it has high debt (so what, we all do in EU!) and uses a lot of energy (but it *is* building windmills!!) That Danish TV is bad is just a silly observation. That they have the highest taxes in the world shows that they are the most developed society, and realise that to get the best education, health care, etc, you need high taxes. And "only" the sixth highest paid is an ironic comment - that's very high given about 140 countries in the world.

"Denmark's schools lag behind even the UK's." Again ironic, the UKs schools are quite good, so a slight lag is still quite good. He says: "The Danes are aggressively jingoistic, waving their red-and-white dannebrog at the slightest provocation." If only Islamic societies would only wave flags when they get angry! And on... and on... I'll leave you to deconstruct the rest of the ironic humour.

OK none of these countries are perfect, and, by using irony, the journalist gets across that this even includes the Scandinavian countries that Guardian readers love so much. But they are probably the best countries we have in this difficult world.
