    Looking for new authors

I am a huge fan of Douglas Adams and Kurt Vonnegut. Sadly, there are only so many Adams and Vonnegut books, so I would love to find someone new with similar writing styles. So what say you? Does anyone have any suggestions for me?
I like poetry, long walks on the beach and poking dead things with a stick.

What are you mostly looking for? Zany humour, and wry comments on the human situation, in transparent prose? Try Kingsley Amis and Sue Townsend.

Larry Niven. He wrote slightly comical science fiction.
According to Aldous Huxley, D.H. Lawrence once said that Balzac was 'a gigantic dwarf', and in a sense the same is true of Dickens.
    Charles Dickens, by George Orwell

You could try Adam Roberts -Yellow Blue Tibia. Apparently it should have won the Booker in '08.

Have you watched the film? It was very uncomfortable viewing.

I would like to read something insane. Completely insane. I would like the words to dribble out of people's private parts and I would like the words to impregnate the world. I think the phrases of poetry or prose should become hallways running into thousands of different directions of literary chaos. This work of literature should be written by everyone on the planet in thousands of different languages, and this work of literature should go on for generations, and should include at least 100 different forms of grammar, most of it may up by individuals, and new and bizarre spellings of existing words as well as an infinite variety of new words made up.

There are people who argue that all the stories have been told. They have been wrong.

The existing literature is basically that of the primate, because Homo sapiens is an advanced primate. We are basically reading the chicken scratches of advanced primates.

I would also like to read a book written by an illiterate person using voice recognition software.

    Can we do better?

Being illiterate has nothing to do with intelligence or linguistic ability. I know fine poetry and songs by illiterates. I suppose as a critic you're a cunning linguistic Mr Madadh Allaidh
