Meaning of Quote in Relation to Pride and Prejudice

    Hi Everyone,
How would you define and explain this quote, in relation to Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice? Thanks!
“Literature becomes significant when it exhibits a social conscience, when it explores the injustices and inequities of the inward world, and when it asks the questions that are and will always be relevant to human civilization.”
