I went to the London Bus Museum, which is actually part of Brooklands museum, crammed full of cars, motorbikes, bicycles, aeroplanes and buses. Well worth the entrance fee. One of the characters, I think Amy Reardon, is mentioned getting on an omnibus. I was intrigued because this was before motor transport. Here is a picture of one taken on my crummy phone camera. Despite being drawn by two horses, the bus could carry twenty-six passengers. No doubt it was pretty slow, but the bus I took through London last Tuesday morning only seemed to travel at walking pace.
