Poe's early poems in relation to his early aspirations...

Could someone please help me with these two questions? I understand that Poe was in the military in his earlier years however I can't seem to find one of his poems that relate. Literature does not come easy to me.

Explain one of Poe’s early poems in relation to his early aspirations.
Explain one of Poe’s poems in relation to his later ideas.

I think Poe pretty well separated his military career from his poetry. His early poems are classical in form and style;witness To Helen. It was only later that he began to experiment with the effects of sound and music on poetry: witness The Bells.
