Peace be on you…It was evening. They did not want the guest know that food was scarce. They brought the food for the guest, put off the lamp, by plan, and sat down with him. He could not know that hosts were not actually eating with him. Earlier, they had made the children fall asleep by kind paternal pats.

The amazing incidence happened in the times of Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) when, once, a guest came to see him. It was hard time; there was no food in his house to cater the guest. He asked if any of the companions could serve the guest. One of the companions took the guest home……. The rest is mentioned above.

Allah let Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h.) know about the sacrifice presented by the whole family. In the morning, Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h.) told the companion that Allah liked their high act….. A verse was revealed: “……..but prefer the Refugees to themselves, even though poverty be their own lot. And whoso is rid of the covetousness of his own soul – it is these who will be successful.” ( from Holy Quran, chapter 59 : verse 10)

In connection with the subject of hospitality, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Khalifah mentioned the above incidence. Now there is no such shortage but hospitality is a evergreen virtue, that will be required in incoming three day annual spiritual gathering [called Jalsa Salana of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, which will be held from August 30 this month in U.K. Usually 30, 000 (more or less) believers come and millions join through MTAi, mta.tv ]

Those meetings and gatherings are very much blessed where Allah and His Messenger is remembered, says Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h.)………. It is stressed that such sacred rememberance has to turn into peaceful thoughts and deeds so that world society is blissful.

The Jalsa volunteers have been asked that they must serve the guests with happy faces. Every participant is expected to be kind to others. The Promised Messiah and Mahdi (on whom be peace) has mentioned a deep psychological point for the attention of hosts, he said: The heart of the guest is like a glass, a little strike may break it.
