    Your top ten tunes

I just spent an interesting evening with my son comparing our favourite tunes. He challenged me to come up with a top twenty - and I did with difficulty, but then kept remembering other good tunes. Anyway, after gathering forty odd tunes, we then challenged each other to come up with our top ten from them. So then it was easier to choose, though I still keep remembering good stuff and adding to my longlist. I chose them based upon the effect of the tune, and often what meaning it has for me, though your criteria could be anything you want.

So here's my current top ten in no particular order, though I reserve the right to change any upon remembering other tunes.

My Sweet Lord by George Harrison

    Steppenwolf by Hawkwind

The Bottle by Gil Scott Heron

    Cocaine by JJ Cale

Riders on the Storm by The Doors

    Invisible Sun by The Police

Bitter Sweet Symphony by The Verve

Follow You Follow Me by Genesis

    The Changingman by Paul Weller

Still changing my mind on this last one...

The Healer by John Lee Hooker and Carlos Santana

Can you come up with a top ten?

Impossible for me to definitively pick ten from any single genre let alone from all music, but here are some that I listen to again and again, and which are among my favourite songs,in no particular order.

    Fake Plastic Trees by Radiohead

Soul Meets Body by Death Cab For Cutie

    Weapon by Matthew Good

Blowin' in the Wind by Bob Dylan

    Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley

Dull Life by The Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Born to Die by Lana Del Rey

Telephone by Lady Gaga Ft Beyonce

Bulls on Parade by Rage Against the Machine

    Tomorrow by U2

Classic rock, hip hop, metal and 90s alternative are genres I listened to so much as a teen that I never do anymore and that is why there is no Beatles, Stones, Pantera, Nirvana, Tupac, ect.
