    While I Write

    The man across from me
    denies his fate.
    He is homeless.
    She
    is trying to help.
    He refuses.
    One by one
    people begin speaking
    across the table.
    He should move to LA.
    But not to Skid Row.
    I consider my own life.
    I live with my father.
    He has money.
    Someday
    we will all learn.
