It is known for a fact that Jane Austen has never married. Do you think that that affected the way she wrote Pride & Prejudice and had an impact on its content?
It is known for a fact that Jane Austen has never married. Do you think that that affected the way she wrote Pride & Prejudice and had an impact on its content?
Undoubtedly.
But what affect is, I believe, almost impossible to say, human nature being what it is. Besides, Austen wrote the book in her late teens and, at such an age, marriage for most girls was hardly the norm.
When Austen revised the work for publication, years later, her single state may well have influenced her editing.
