    This is nonsense !

4th of July Parade @ Highland Park, 2022/tanka

    A civic parade
    Shot rife with chaotic tones
    A penny dreadful
    Moment of time is frozen
When the fates stroll idly by

    Very interesting take!

    9th of July

    Holiday
    Parade,
    Charade.
    All those dead.
    A heroic narrative
    and so many questions.
"I seemed to have sensed also from an early age that some of my experiences as a reader would change me more as a person than would many an event in the world where I sat and read. "

I wrote the poem above before learning of the shooting in US today. I´m very sorry! It looks like terrorism is getting organized again

    parlor games

There once was a man who played
    At parlor games quite unafraid
    But when it came about
    To gesturing without a shout
He just wasn't into the charade

    Enjoyed! A sort of Limerick?

    Winged houses,
    Speaking louses
    Eccentric mouses
    Lost causes.
    Is this a nonsense poem
or just one attempt at rhyming?

I guess so: "A limerick (/ˈlɪmərɪk/ LIM-ər-ik) is a form of verse, usually humorous and frequently rude, in five-line, predominantly anapestic trimeter with a strict rhyme scheme of AABBA, in which the first, second and fifth line rhyme, while the third and fourth lines are shorter and share a different rhyme." - Wikipedia

    Lol !

    again... rhymes

rhymes are a dime a dozen
(or so said my many-times past cousin)
    be it sonnets or villanelles
some just can't stand the smell
    (unless they're done very-very well)
so to free form one oft prevails

cowboy cat - a tanka poem

    my cowboy cat breathes
ever so slow, wide and worn
    a full ten gallon
    its furry creases so swell
    when hunting it purrs aloud

    Enjoyed "cowboy cat"!

    Soliloquies of a worm

    Here you can see me
just a worm, braving the storm
    at times forlorn.
    Pathetically small I
own the entrails of the earth.

Wonderful ! The epitome of humility !

    o' my sanity

    racked so lack of sleep
darkest night dims not drear thought
    o' my sanity
    there's no solace counting sheep
    'tis mindless as counting coup

Today usually valerian is of help, when I can´t sleep. But I have seen darker times.

    King Valerian

    Adorned with flowers
    white or pink
    I preside softly over
    the sleep of humans
    and the glee of cats!
    Moths enjoy me.
    In ancient times,
    I warded of envious elves
    at the weddings.

I have some hydrOXYzine (Atarax) HCL 50 mg... https://www.webmd.com/drugs/2/drug-7...l-oral/details I may take 1-tab in a wee bit to see if that helps... Valerien sounds quite exotic as your poem implies Will see where it is available.

    little white pills

pills - hate them so much
how many did I take ?
or take any at all ?
    rinse, wash, and repeat
    to sleep
    maybe another will help
or did I take one yet ?
    foggy minded into the
    amber dispenser; again ?
    ... one more -
    need to sleep
    into the breach thou
    tiny white pill
    heal this poor soul
    bereft of rapid eye
    - "nigh night sleep tight
    don't let the buggies bite"

Here one can find it in any drugstore. Or at the herbs seller. But keep the smell far from the noses of your cats because of the catnip effect. There is also the extract of Passion Flower but Valerian works better with me.

    Catniped cat

    Four dancing legs,
    But they might be eight!
Sniffing, sniffing, rolling on the floor
    Dancing dancing, sniff, sniff, sniff.
    Dancing, sniff, sniff
    Subsiding!
    Balling up, yawning,
    zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

    lol - cat's strophes

    angst - tanka

    it conjures at last
a more balanced pain stirred in
    into my sorrow
    my petitions to angels
    to whom made known disregard

    Anguish-tanka

    I seek the footprints
    of the guiding entities
    when earth seems empty
    and usual paths are closed.
    How improve on this cliché?
