Correct on all! Oh, there's plenty more where these come from. Believe it or not I did this one totally from memory!

I think number 4 is Cadfael. And 15 presumably is Mycroft Holmes? I suspect 16 is the Scarlet Pimpernel, though I've never read any of her stuff.

And why, oh why, is Jonathan Creek not on the list? Or if he is, why have I missed him?

When I saw "crimefighter," I was thinking comic book characters, in which case I'd probably actually know some of the answers.

Correct on 4 and 15. Negative on 16, there are three detective\crime fighters by Baroness Orczy besides the Scarlet Pimpernel, who was a noble not a lawyer.

Johnathan Creek will appear in the next puzzle, provided we ever clear this one!

But with the information that you provided...my answer is not incorrect...just not what you were looking for. So...in answering your question the second time...Kent Allard.

    22 is Nayland Smith

10 is Leverage? I'm not sure. I watch Hustle over Leverage any day but I think it's Leverage.

Right you are! I read that this question was given on a game show, and when the choices given did not include Kent Allard the contestant said none of the above. Told the answer was Lamont Cranston, he challenged the question and won. From the first several magazines it becomes clear that Cranston is the Shadow on occasion but that the Shadow isn't Cranston. He also is sometimes Henry Arnuld, financier, Fitz the janitor at Police Headquarters, Old Phineas Twamby, curio dealer, and others. None of these is his ID. In The Shadow Unmasks, the Shadow as Cranston has a mishap where the real Cranston is concerned, so he becomes his true self, Kent Allard, aviator and former spy. It is a perfect fit, since Allard was supposed to be in Central America recovering from a crash landing at the time The Shadow began his career. Allard also limps from an injury received during that crash making him all the more unlikely as the Shadow.

For Radio purposes. The Shadow became Lamont Cranston only because it was hard to fit disguise changes into an half-hour show. Hypnosis became his power though in the magazine it was a sort of ninja stealth that kept him unseen until he confronted the crook. Nice going!
