    Question Reality versus Eternity

Is reality the same as infinity?

And if both were a number or a ratio which would you quote them with?

    exhale
    inhale
    nothing more
    to fail
    then a parapet
    of hail
    passerelle would rail

Infinity does have a numerical symbol. It looks like an 8 on it's side.

I have heard credible sources tell me that comparing reality and eternity on online forums with a khaki background might cause the universe to implode.

I so want to tell clients that it will be an infinity before I get back to them.

    I don't understand the question.

Somehow a post like this next to an image of Peter Griffin makes total sense.

    hehe

In the past ten minutes, I gave this a lot of thought.
"Is reality the same as infinity?"

    Answer: Yes

A ring is reality without a beginning and therefore no end.
Consider the reality of the hoola hoop, the ring on your finger, Johnny’s Ring of Fire.
Archimedes left in a ring in the tub when he suddenly leapt out during his eureka moment.

It is best expressed mathematically by 2∏r
Pi is infinite but so real it will blow your mind.

On the way to work, I was listening to Tex Ritter on disc 1, btw-discs 2 and 3 are Jimmy Hendrix and the Psychedelic Furs respectively.
When I heard Tex singing The Riddle I thought long and hard about reality versus infinity, particularly when he gets to the part about the ring.

"I gave my love a cherry that has no stone
I gave my love a chicken that has no bone
I gave my love ring that has no end
I gave my love a baby with no cryin

How can there be a cherry that has no stone?
How can there be a chicken that has no bone?
How can there be a ring that has no end?
How can there be a baby with no cryin?

A cherry when it’s bloomin it has no stone
A chicken when its peep’n it has no bone
A ring when it’s rollin it has no end
A baby when its sleep’n there’s no cryin"

Hi Delta any reasons why you should?

only that I have to give them a specific timeframe when I place them on hold. I can't say 'I'll be several minutes' because it's too ambiguous but to be honest, as a customer I'd get angry if somebody told me they will be 8 minutes rather than several minutes because it would seem much longer when a precise number is used. The idea that I could tell them it will take me an infinite amount of time and would they mind holding is sooooo appealing!

To wade in with the armaments of the pedant...

Can we please have a definition of the terms 'infinity', 'eternity' and 'reality'? I contend these are obscure terms.

The second law of thermodynamics tells us the entire universe will eventually break down to a mass of basic particles tending towards absolute zero. Is that eternity? Is that infinite? If time is the change from one instant to the next, will such a thing exist when there is no change? Could it even be described as reality?
"I should only believe in a God that would know how to dance. And when I saw my devil, I found him serious, thorough, profound, solemn: he was the spirit of gravity- through him all things fall. Not by wrath, but by laughter, do we slay. Come, let us slay the spirit of gravity!" - Nietzsche

Eternity is my Mom's favorite perfume. I go for more of the fruity and beachy scents myself.

Indeed. One might start by defining eternity as uninterrupted assertive constant and without a break.
Reality however in contrast has gears breakage slowness and eventually stopage for refreshements or refuelement purposes.

Reality, eternity, very different things, not even in the same classed/categories.

Reality is what we are, what is around us, what we can discover about our environment (of which we are a part)>

Eternity is a concept of timelessness, forever. (and maybe only something longer than us, because we would never know).

The closest I can come to relating the two is to assume reality is infinite and therefore potentially eternal in our quest to learn about it.
