Hey guys,
I am new to this forum and I need help looking for some good books to read. I am looking for some non-fiction books (business, sociology, life changing, life reflecting, etc...) and some fiction books. I enjoy reading anything that is appealing, interesting and well written. I will really appreciate it if you guys can recommend me some books. If you guys can, please provide me with a brief reason as to why you guys enjoy the book that you recommend.

"Appealing, interesting and well written" are all pretty subjective and so don't narrow things down a whole lot. If you post some examples of books you've read that you think fit all of the above, that will greatly help people help you.

I agree with Calidore that "appealing, interesting and well-written" can be subjective.
It might be a good idea to have a look at the Book Reviews section.
If you're not looking for anything specific then just got to the Litnet's Top 100 Books thread. There may be some dispute about the ranking but every book there is worth looking into.
Tipping Point is good by Malcolm Gladwell.
Buffett - the making of an American Capitalist is good written by Roger Lowenstein - if you want to read about business.
Quiet - by Susan Cain. It's a very new book. And a very good book on the sociology side. Great book for people who are viewed by others as too quiet in an increasingly LOUD society.

"Quiet" sounds good! What's with all these one syllable titles? Did "Blink" start a trend? I'm reading a book called "Rapt"by Winnifred Gallagher at the moment - about how we can all pay more attention to the important things in life and become more "rapt". Not quite up to Ricard's standards, but a good read.
I read a good book recently titled Treasure Islands by Nicholas Shaxson. It is about how offshore tax havens distort the world economy.
Another non-fiction book I've read this year was titled Whole Earth Discipline by Stewart Brand. He argues that cities, nuclear power and genetically engineered crops are good for the environment.
According to Aldous Huxley, D.H. Lawrence once said that Balzac was 'a gigantic dwarf', and in a sense the same is true of Dickens.

For fiction I would recommend David Copperfield & Pride and Predjudice. They were interesting to me and taught moral lessons. non- fiction: I'm O.K. You're O.K. if it is still in print. It helps in dealings with other people and how one thinks about oneself. Another book I liked was A Man Nobody Knows about the saviour by Bruce Barton.
My favorite book is the Tyler translation of the Tale of Genji. It's 1100 pages long, but worth every one. You should let us know what books you've liked in the past though, so we can be more helpful.
