    Unknown novel

    Greetings

My request might sound a bit strange, but please bear with me.

Years ago, while collecting illustrations for book covers from various artists, I had in my collection an illustration showing what seemed to be the sphinx in the Crystal Palace Park in London. I've since lost this image, and would like to find it but I can't remember the name of the author or the novel for which this illustration was made. So I'd like to ask anyone who might remember a novel with such a cover art, to help me out by giving the name of the author and the title.

Here is the description of the cover art:

It involves a stone sphinx, stairs (I think) and a walkway. Some trees in the background. It's night, so the entire illustration features blue tones.
I think this is the sphinx in question (in Crystal Palace Park):

The cover itself is not that dissimilar from this photograph in terms of composition and content, except that it is night.

As for the contents of the book, I haven't read it so I'm not sure. It was a novel of some sort.

    any help would be appreciated

    thanks

    Never mind, I've found it

and oh what Irony, it's called "The Finding"

And I didn't quite remember it exactly. It's not the sphinx at Crystal Palace Park, it's at London Embankment..

thanks to anyone who checked this thread out
