I recently looked at the demi monde of chatrooms, and I kept being reminded of a story by De Maupassant I read many years ago. A bored housewife watches a hooker who moved in across the street. The hooker would go to her balcony then make eye contact with men coming down the street. Once she had their attention she would make a nod with her head to invite the men up to her place. The housewife tries it one day, and it works too well! She gets money and a tip left on her mantlepiece!
OK, so I remember the story, but what is the name of the story? I cant retrieve that at all. Does anyone out there know it?
Thanks from Meta.Is there an expert on Guy de Maupassant.
