the moon last night was beautiful, I had actually forgotten this super moon but when I took the dogs out before going o bed around midnight the sky was blue and the moon golden.

That's great that you were able to see it.
We had a supermoon party at my brother in law's with their 8 year old twins. I grabbed the telescope and the camera. The kids enjoyed looking through the telescope.

We saw it last night and apparently it was 14% bigger than at any other time or something. Bright silver and I could actually see its face for the first time - everybody tells me the moon has one but I don't see one but I did last night!

Tonight should be just as spectacular assuming it is clear as evidenced by Wifflingpin. The moon will be slightly less than full, but good enough for government work.
Mystery - Hopefully you can salvage something out of your efforts. I was limited to a 200mm Albinar lens circa 1970's, with a mount that fits my Pentax, therefore it was trial and error exercise using manual settings.
My shots were taken roughly within the first hour after it broke the horizon, hence the orange hue created by the layers of atmospheric funk.

Beautiful pictures. Stunning moon. How strange we are sitting on this ball with only one other ball nearby. How lonely and weird. We're very fortunate I think, to have a moon.
I was at a firepit with a bunch of drunk people last night and they were all complaining about how dissapointed they were. Apparently, a super moon should be more "super." I thought it was really bright, but I couldn't tell that it was significantly bigger. The moon always looks smaller in my town though, we don't get that whole phenomenon where it looks bigger near the horizon since we have mountains instead of a horizon.

Huh - I pointed the camera, and pressed a button thingy -quite a few times. Most of the pictures were completely rubbish.
The camera was an Olympus SP550UZ, (18x zoom) with an extra lens thing (1.7x) - certainly not the kit for serious photographers (Oh, don't tell Olympus I said that!) The setting was one that said it was good for fireworks. I rested the lens attachment on the window frame.
