    You left me blind
    From one long glimpse
    your ultra violet
    radiance
    burned the minds eye
    A supernova tide
    All sensation gone
    A dark delight
    your bliss.

    Deeper than the night,
    a sightless oblivion,
    the color of my soul,
    beyond darkness,
    eater of the light,
    hypnotic beauty,
    lurking in the shadows,
    trespassing across the heart,
    the color of silence
    and nothingness,
    and a glimpse
    of unseen
    visions.

Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before. ~ Edgar Allan Poe

    Emerald

    Jealousy is green
    Or emerald when seen
With eyes turned bright and mean.
    He won't forget.

And so be on your way.
    The grass is green today,
    Emerald, one might say,
    When it gets wet.

he had been purple for a while
his hand raised so as to say wait, wait
a little more, a little more
but he was gone like Poe's Leonore

    Alabaster will not last
If left outside with rain to wear.
The wind abuses it out there.
Its form will change then wash away.
That's why inside it gets to stay.

    Untitled 2

    Treehugger, spike in hand,
castoff from a rock n' roll
    band meets
    Chainsaw-teeth, he with
    muddied boots
    and hardened profile,
in a bar; a tatoo haven
    for mavericks and mavens
    .
    Amongst the stale haze
    and staler music that
    blares and decays -
    declaring a half-life
    of better days
    A conversation is
    struck ( then a chin: Amok! )
    the starry-eyed strangers
    oblivious stare
    Exchanging lies, belying
    the small talk
    of a higher purpose,
( tables roll, bottles fly )
A gun reports - to no one
    in particular: Most heads start
    ... one falls
    .
    What might have been -
    a genealogy never ending
    topples like dominos
    laid in a row
    An alabaster casket of white
    bereft of dreams,
is lowered slowly, a solemn strain,
    as Chainsaw-teeth is laid
to rest with few in attendance:
    even fewer tears
    .
    Somewhere Treehugger sighs
    and searches within -
    then carves a poem into
a redwood tree that never dies

I think this has a good rhythm to it, and some pretty fun word play. I enjoyed.
While the truncheon may be used
    in lieu of conversation,
words will always retain their power.
Words offer the means to meaning,
and for those who will listen,
    the enunciation of truth.

She's worn a little at the knees
    from blowing my bugle,
faded blue-jeans blue (reminds me of Madonna in that 80s film), Oh no Oh Billie Jean,
no no she's not my girl,
but still, sometimes I like to call her on weekends
    for mutual fun.
Oh, and the boy is not my son.
