For the last week or so, it has taken my computer forever to connect to you guys. I was wondering if you are doing something on the site that would cause this to happen, or whether the problem is on my end.

I don't care if the glass is half full or half empty, I'm just glad to have a glass.
Mine's good, so I don't think the Russians are attacking again.

The doctors didn't know if my eyes would ever heal."

I'm okay. I think it depends on the traffic where you are receiving and the service provider you are using. A few weeks ago there was an actual problem with the response of Litnet. I think it's no longer there.
IS there a time of day when this happens, or is it at all times?
For a while, it seemed to be happening at all times. However, the last day or two, it seems to have been connecting right away. One thing I did do was to delete my favorites link and re-do it. That may have helped.

I'm having the same problem. On a very fast connection and computer but the forums take 1-2 minutes to load. Don't have this trouble with other sites.
As SilentMute said, it may help to flush the link and make a new one, but quite often the cookie is the real culprit. If it has somehow been corrupted, it may cause all sorts of strange problems. It often works wonders to manually delete the cookie in question and then logging in as usual (Remember to tick the "remember me" box again).
You will find them in different places depending on the software you use, but a search for deleting cookies "your browser" will probably put you on the right track.
