    Coffee Cup

    Warming my leg
    with french vanilla
    and spoons of sugar
    while turning sleepy eyes
    into alert eagles
    scouting for prey
    to pounce on and cherish
    in dances of neon lights
    shining through rabbits
    chiseled in clouds by wind
    to be photographed
    if even for a second
    by memory lenses and film
    produced by a throbbing heart
    –the sweet life reminder–
    sits the thing to cause
    my sleepless habits
    of jogging half naked
    without direction,
    freeing feel good drugs
    into born destinations.

This rattles along like a bad case of insomnia. I particularly enjoyed the photography metaphor, but not so sure about these 4 lines :

    sits the thing to cause
    my sleepless habits
    of jogging half naked
    without direction,

    H

One of my favorite lines was:

    "Jogging half naked without direction"

That was one of the best lines in the poem. I also like the idea of a prey thing, the world definitely needs more carnivore kind of poetry! Too much poetry is polite, boring, etc. so I found it very refreshing the whole predatorial feeling.

There were some lines in this poem that grabbed my attention, but there were other lines that did not.

Oh, and nice thing there about apathy in your signature.

(This reminded me of Will and Wave in Nietzsche's Gay Science. Interesting.)
