Unexploded Man by Leslie Watkins is the latest book I finished!!
The book revolves around politics, espionage during the cold war period between and the England. The book shows you how a single flaw of character can bring your doom if you were a Member of Parliament.
Mr. David Bernett, the political gossip writer is kidnapped by Mr. Rupert and is tortured (all the time the entire world believes Mr. David is dead). Mr. Rupert working for the Russians systematically gains information about the bigwig politicians in the Britian parliament who intend to make the British War Machine stronger.
Once Rupert gets his information, he kills / destroys political life of the politicians. This keeps on continuing till Mr. David escapes from his captors and ensures that his captors are arrested.
When the plot is so simple, why on earth should you read the book for? Well, the book depends not, on the plot but on the narration, the characterization of Mr. David, his doubts about giving information to Rupert and the pain he faces due to torture, Sadism of the captors, the brilliant and well planned efforts of Russians, heroic mission of British Cops in capturing Rupert and his aides and lot more ..
