    I hope you read the rest, I completely agree that the first half & maybe more was completely & utterly boring to me, but it was an assignment & When I got done, I totally forgot how dull the first part was.

    I read half way through my first Dickens novel and then put it down. Normally I enjoy books, but Dickens I disliked. When I was asked to read A Tale of Two Cities I was not pleased. However, I have been forced to revise my opinion of Dickens. While I found that I had no great liking for Darnay and even less for Lucie, I connected with Carton. I found him to be real, interesting, and heartening. I liked him the whole way through. It was worth reading the novel to read the story of Carton alone.
