    Reading literature for story

I was wondering if there is anything wrong with reading literature for story above all?

Depends on what you mean by literature. For some books, it would be a shame to only focus on the plot (crime and punishment) whereas other books are simply plot driven (dan brown).

Plot is only an element of story.

I suppose we all started reading for story when we first caught the reading bug as youngsters. As we read more and studied what we were reading, we probably realised that many writers are doing more than just telling a story: once that's realised, I guess it's all but impossible to read just for story again. I have no objection to anyone reading a book for its story-line alone but with so many books, so much would be missed that would enrich the experience.
