i read a book from a greek philosopher about the real odyssey meanings.
when odysseus landed in the island of circe,the witch transformed odysseus friends into pigs.and then odysseus
with his sword threatenead circe to make them humans again. so she did.
thats what a reader understands when reads the story.the question is.This is homer?A christian andersen fary teller
with witches? NO. Homer wants us to IMAGINE the real story.He only give us the fact that odysseus stayed in the ship and his friends serch the island for supplies.then circe turned them into pigs and then odyseus with his sword he threatened her.ok.LETS NOW IMAGINE THE STORY.we are talking about sailors who were travelling in the sea for a long time.then they see an island.odysseus stays in the ship and his friends go out searching.then they see a beatiful woman(witch).dont we say even today,a beatiful woman a witch?they are sailors,they havent been with a woman for a long time so they started f... her.they are there with her for a long time.they soon forget their aim of their travel,they forget their famillies,their home.what they only care is to have fun.so we are talking about humans who turned into animals(pigs as homer say).the description of this transformation is shocking and genius.homer says circe TOUCHED THEM WITH HER SMALL MAGIC STICK.AND THEY TURNED INTO PIGS.now this small magic stick means her clitoris.ok.now odysseus is in the ship waiting for his companions to return.when he sees them in the lust and passion he is not crazy to tell them,lets go, enough of this,we should return home now.odysseus was the most clever man of his times.homer says athena(goddess fo wisdom) was in his brain.they will think he must be crazy.so he says,im with you baoys.and he starts f.. circe also.of course all of these we have to imagine,homer only says,odysseus threatened circe with his sword. when circe met odysseus she started to make sex only with him.thats because odysseus was a great personality(thats woman looking today except sex).and she abandoned odysseus friends.so his friends transformed from pigs to humans.so one day his friends tell him.what its gonna be odysseus.will we leave from this island?and so they left.so indeed odysseus WITH HIS SWORD(METAPHOR),(with his abilities),transformed his friends to humans again.

So, this great philosopher discovered that the Homer used one language (I hope he analysed in old greek, because in english it would be fun) and in this language, there is metaphors, symbolism, etc,etc. So he discovered it is poetry ?
And even when he have no idea of who Homer was to be sure of what he really means, he discovered the real meaning of Odyssey? I am shocked. 3000 years no one ever did it...

Maybe it's symbolism, but considering this is about mythology, it was probably meant to be taken literally.
