    Some recent poetry:

I dream of the sleep a man deserves
When he’s worked hard, and the echoes of his work
Are still reverberating in his heart, and the pleasure of a job well done
Will salt his sleep like caramel in hot chocolate.
Before bed, a cup with his son.
Later, a cup with his wife, shared over a smile.
And that honey-amber look in her eyes that pools only for him.
And a realization: that life is good.

"The time has come," the Walrus said,
    "To talk of many things:
    Of shoes--and ships--and sealing-wax--
    Of cabbages--and kings--
And why the sea is boiling hot--
    And whether pigs have wings."

Those first three lines are very well done. The last three are a bit on the sappy side for me "Salt" was an intriguing word choice.
